Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel is a very useful application for creating spreadsheets, charts and graphs and for making calculations of your data easily. In class we will cover what's possible to do with this program and you will learn the tools available and how to format your work. We will be applying this new knowledge to design a spreadsheet for use in Science class. You will save two copies of the same spreadsheet; one will chart your eating habits for a day, and in the other you will create a perfectly balanced day of eating based on your understanding of nutrition from Science class. We will input formulas to calculate the percentages of your daily diet to analyze the nutritional balance.

Excel is a great tool especially for use in mathematics since you can set formulas and then add your data as you receive it. It saves a lot of time in doing calculations. You can also adjust the colors, shading and borders to make your data appear more lively.
