Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is a great piece of software that allows for the manipulation of images. You can resize and adjust color balance of photographs, do "touch up" work, and create collages with several images. You can use painting and drawing tools to add to a photo or to create an original work. Photoshop is a very useful tool and after learning the basics, you'll be able to add a lot to your projects.

In the 7th grade class, we learn the tool palette and how each tool is used. We practice manipulating and combining images. Then, in conjunction with Art class, students scan stylized figures they've made with black construction paper and bring those images into Photoshop to create a dynamic artistic piece. Students paint a background, adding shapes and filters, and think of a word they want their piece to represent. The scanned figure is added, duplicated, and manipulated.
